House+Earth's cork mosaic floors are produced from recycled wine corks that are cut into discs approximately 1/4" thick and laid onto a paper backing. The tile is laid like most other sheeted tile mosaics with a "glue and grout" method. Simply lay the tile onto mastic and let dry. Once dry, apply a layer of polyurethane over the cork to seal out the grout which will spread on and lock the tile in place. A final layer of polyurethane and you'll have an application that can be used for a shower or bathroom floor, a wine cellar, kitchen backsplash, or sound insulating ceiling and walls.
